A spiritual revival event organized by the UniteUS ministry took place this week at Appalachian State University's Holmes Convocation Center, drawing a large number of students. The ministry has reported that more than 700 students attending the gathering made decisions to follow Jesus, marking a significant outcome for the event. Additionally, approximately 100 students were reportedly baptized immediately after the event concluded, publicly affirming their new spiritual commitments.
The outreach served as a central opportunity for students in the Boone community to engage with a spiritual message. Speakers Tonya Prewett and Jennie Allen delivered the Gospel message to the substantial assembly of students, whom the ministry described as "spiritually hungry." The Holmes Convocation Center provided a setting for this large-scale gathering, which aimed to create an environment where university students could explore and connect with their faith. The immediate baptisms underscored the personal and public nature of the spiritual decisions made during the night.
Following the event, many students shared their profound experiences on social media platforms, reflecting on the personal impact of the night. One participant specifically remarked on the profound and moving nature of witnessing individuals publicly declare their faith through baptism, highlighting the communal aspect of the experience. Other students characterized the occasion as a "life changing night," indicating a deep personal transformation. Further comments from attendees conveyed a strong sense of divine presence felt during the event, with one student calling it simply the "best night ever!" Another student described the gathering as "an amazing opportunity to gather together to worship our Heavenly Father," emphasizing the collective worship experience.
The Appalachian State University event is part of a broader, ongoing initiative by the UniteUS ministry, which has been steadily expanding its reach across college campuses nationwide. This movement initially began with its first outreach at Auburn on September 12, 2023. Since that inaugural event last year, UniteUS has now visited more than two dozen college campuses across the country. Through these various gatherings, the ministry reports that a total of over 100,000 students have experienced what it describes as "experiencing God in a powerful way." This widespread engagement indicates a significant and growing trend for the ministry.
Earlier this fall, the UniteUS ministry conducted similar outreaches at other prominent institutions, including Pepperdine University and the University of Miami. In both instances, hundreds of students also reportedly committed their lives to Christ, further demonstrating the consistent impact reported by the ministry. The App State event, therefore, adds to this series of large-scale spiritual gatherings on university grounds, reflecting a continued focus on student populations.
Looking ahead, the UniteUS ministry has already scheduled further outreaches at additional educational institutions. The University of South Alabama is set to host an event on October 27, and another significant gathering is planned for Belmont University in Nashville on November 10. These continued efforts by UniteUS underscore the ministry's sustained focus on engaging university communities across the country with its spiritual message and events. The recent activity in Boone aligns with the ministry's stated mission to foster opportunities for students to connect with their faith on campus, contributing to a national movement.
