The Western Youth Network is launching its twelfth annual Festival of Trees fundraiser beginning the week of November sixteenth across Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties. The event features more than one hundred decorated trees and wreaths available for purchase through an online auction opening November eighteenth at noon. Proceeds support WYN programs, including mentoring for regional youth.
Events accompanying the auction include a free screening of "Elf" at the Appalachian Theatre on November thirtieth, a wreath-making workshop on December first, and a free hot chocolate bar at the Watauga Recreation Center on December third. A twenty-four-hour fundraising campaign named $20k-in-One-Day will run on December third, preceding the auction's close on December fifth at noon. Presenting sponsor Appalachian Evergreens and WYN Executive Director Jennifer Warren highlighted the community's support for the region's children.
