Adjacent to this municipal project, Appalachian State University is also progressing on several major campus developments. Peacock Hall is currently undergoing partial renovations and a new 70,000 square foot expansion. According to App State, this project had reached more than half completion by August and is projected to be finished in 2027. The expansion is designed to introduce new classrooms, a dedicated learning laboratory, and additional office and event spaces, enhancing the academic and administrative infrastructure.
Further development is concentrated within the university’s Innovation District, home to the new App State STEM Academic Building. As of August, construction on this facility was 62% complete, with an estimated completion target of summer 2028. The future STEM building promises to house modern laboratories, a 100-seat classroom, and various event spaces. Addressing the growing demand for on-campus student accommodation, the Appalachian 105 Student Housing Project is another substantial undertaking. This project, which was 70% completed by August, is projected to be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2027. According to App State, the initiative is specifically designed to meet the university’s on-campus housing needs. Once finished, it will offer 852 beds for upper-division students. Additionally, the development will provide nearly 1000 parking spaces, utilizing the site that was previously the 105 parking lot.
